Burkert Fluid Control Systems Opens State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Facility in Pune
New facility aligns with the ‘Make in India’ initiative, boosting local production and employment
Burkert Fluid Control Systems India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Germany’s Bürkert Group, has launched a new manufacturing facility in Pune to meet rising demand in the region. The company, known for its expertise in measurement and control systems for liquids and gases, inaugurated the facility at Talegaon MIDC Phase 2. The state-of-the-art facility, spread across 4,645.15 square meters, houses advanced testing, assembly, and machining centers.
Initially, the facility will focus on producing mass flow controllers, angle seat valves, diaphragm valves, and system solutions. With an annual capacity to manufacture 30,000 valves and 500 system sets, this new plant aims to strengthen Burkert’s presence in the Indian market by bringing production closer to its customers. The facility is expected to provide a boost to local employment, with plans to hire 32 employees by the end of this year and possibly expand to 100 next year.
Speaking about the development, Georg Stawowy, CEO of Bürkert Fluid Control Systems, remarked, “The opening of our new manufacturing facility in India underscores our commitment to the Indian market and aligns with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. By localizing production, we can offer tailored solutions to our customers, contributing to Burkert’s long-term profitability goals.”
The company has successfully completed technology transfers to India for various specialized systems, including Zone 1 ATEX classification panels. The new facility is projected to become profitable by 2028, positioning Burkert as a key player in India’s industrial landscape.
With a global turnover of approximately 710 million EUR and over 3,700 employees worldwide, Burkert is heavily invested in research and development, which accounts for 6.9% of its total revenue. In India, the company counts prominent clients such as Zydus, Alembic, Sun Pharma, Biocon, Bharat Biotech, and Serum Institute among its customer base.
This new facility marks a significant milestone in Burkert’s expansion strategy and is expected to contribute significantly to the local economy while enhancing the company’s service delivery to Indian industries.
