Incident sparks probe after complainant alleges refusal to file FIR
A dramatic incident at Mumbai’s VP Road Police Station has gone viral after PSI Durga Kharde allegedly lost her temper during a heated exchange with complainants.
The controversy began when a woman arrived at the station to file a cheating complaint. She claimed the officers on duty refused to register her FIR. A young man accompanying her began recording the police response on his phone, which reportedly enraged PSI Kharde.
In anger, she removed her nameplate and flung it toward the complainant. While it missed, it could have caused serious injury to the woman’s eye. A heated argument broke out, and the young man later uploaded the video on Facebook. The clip has already been viewed over 6.5 lakh times.
Complainant Yash Karande alleged that instead of acting against the accused, the police repeatedly told him to “sit respectfully.”
Following the uproar, DCP Garg has ordered an inquiry and assigned ACP Dnyaneshwar Wagh of the Girgaon Division to probe the incident starting Monday.
