Caught on Camera: Four Men Storm Pune's Ambegaon Petrol Pump at Gunpoint
Chaos unfolded late Friday evening in Pune’s Ambegaon taluka when four armed robbers executed a daring heist at a petrol pump, fleeing with nearly ₹2 lakh in cash. The shocking incident took place at the Rushi Petrol Pump near Tambade Mala on the Pune-Nashik highway around 9:30 PM and was captured on the petrol pump’s CCTV cameras—footage that has since gone viral across social media platforms.
Riding in on motorcycles under the cover of night, the gang of four split into two groups. While two of them stormed into the pump office wielding pistols, the other two stood guard outside. Employees inside the office were threatened at gunpoint, with one of the robbers demanding cash from the drawer while his accomplice issued death threats to ensure no resistance.
After grabbing the cash—estimated at ₹1.90 lakh—the group made a quick escape. They reportedly fled on two motorcycles parked close to the crime scene. However, as they sped away, one of the robbers lost control and fell from the bike roughly 100 meters from the pump. In a desperate bid to evade capture, he fired a shot into the air, causing widespread panic but, fortunately, no injuries.
The gunshot drew immediate attention. Local shopkeepers, commuters, and residents rushed toward the petrol pump, creating a crowd within minutes. Despite the commotion and a police cordon set up shortly after the incident—including roadblocks in areas like Awasari Ghat—the culprits managed to escape, possibly using a different route to dodge the blockade.

Law enforcement responded swiftly. Five dedicated teams from Pune Rural Police have been deployed to track down the suspects. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Amol Mandave (Khed division), investigators believe the gang had been surveying the petrol pump for several days, carefully planning the robbery.
Senior Police Inspector Shrikant Kankale confirmed that the faces of the robbers are clearly visible in the CCTV footage. Authorities have detailed descriptions and are using the visuals to aid the manhunt. A special team is working around the clock to locate and apprehend the culprits.
