CBSE 2025 Board Exams: Strict Penalties for Misconduct, 2-Year Ban Possible For Rule Violations

CBSE to Conduct Class 10 Board Exams Twice a Year from 2026, First Phase in Feb-Mar
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced comprehensive guidelines for the upcoming Class 10 and 12 board examinations scheduled to begin on February 15, 2025. Class 10 exams will conclude on March 18, while Class 12 exams will end on April 4, 2025.
Revised Unfair Means (UFM) Rules
CBSE has implemented stricter rules to curb exam-related misconduct. Under the revised Unfair Means (UFM) Rules, students found violating the guidelines may face severe penalties, including a ban from appearing in board exams for up to two years.
Prohibited Items and Consequences
Possession or use of prohibited items, such as mobile phones, smartwatches, or any electronic devices, at the examination center can lead to:
- Cancellation of the ongoing examination.
- Disqualification for the following year’s board exams.
Schools Directed to Educate Students
CBSE has instructed schools to proactively educate students about the revised rules and the severe consequences of violations. This step aims to ensure students are fully aware of the examination policies and maintain the integrity of the process.
This year, CBSE will conduct examinations for a total of 204 subjects, catering to over 44 lakh students across the country.
CBSE’s stringent measures aim to promote fair practices during the exams and maintain the credibility of the board examination system. Students are urged to follow the guidelines meticulously to avoid penalties.
