CBSE Continues To Skip Merit List In 2025 Board Results To Curb Academic Pressure

CBSE Board Class 10th, 12th Result 2025 Expected Next Week: How to Check, Official Websites, SMS, DigiLocker and More
New Delhi, April 7, 2025 – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to announce the results for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations in May. Although the official date is yet to be confirmed, the results are likely to follow the usual schedule, as seen in previous years.
To pass the 2025 board exams, students must achieve a minimum of 33% marks overall and in each individual subject.
Continuing its policy from recent years, CBSE has once again decided not to publish merit lists or declare student divisions. The board will also refrain from announcing the names of top scorers.
This practice was initially adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic when board results were prepared based on internal assessments and online exams. The board has since maintained this approach, aiming to reduce the stress of academic competition and promote a healthier learning environment.
After the results are declared, CBSE will organize supplementary examinations for students who do not pass one or more subjects. Additionally, students who are unsatisfied with their scores will be allowed to apply for re-evaluation or improvement exams.
This year, Class 10 exams were held from February 15 to March 18, while Class 12 exams concluded on April 4. In the past, CBSE announced its board exam results around mid-May, with the 2024 results being released on May 13 and the 2023 results on May 12.
