Satara, Maharashtra – A horrific road accident near Wai Bus Stand in Satara was caught on CCTV, showing a speeding car losing control and ramming into five pedestrians. The tragic mishap resulted in the death of one person, while four others, including a 3.5-year-old child, sustained severe injuries. The disturbing footage has been widely circulated on social media, highlighting the dangers of reckless driving in crowded areas.

Accident Details

The accident occurred around 4:30 PM when pedestrians were returning home after completing their errands in Wai Market. A high-speed vehicle, identified as MH 04 GE 6695, coming from Mahabaleshwar towards Wai, suddenly swerved and hit people walking along the roadside. The impact was so severe that one pedestrian died on the spot, while four others were critically injured.

The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Bajrang Mohite (Solshi, Koregaon Taluka). The injured include:

Chaos at the Scene, Locals Intervene

As the accident unfolded in a crowded area, panic spread among commuters and shopkeepers. Locals and nearby traders quickly responded, stopping the speeding vehicle and confronting the driver. Reports suggest that angry citizens thrashed the driver, while three other passengers in the car managed to escape.

The driver, identified as Hasan Jinnas Saheb Borvi (Korchi, Hatkanangale, Kolhapur), has been taken into custody by the police. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Police Investigation Underway

Speaking on the incident, Assistant Police Commissioner stated that preliminary investigations indicate reckless driving as the primary cause. The Wai police, led by Sub-Inspector are handling the case.
