Asks state government to take strict action against anyone violating the ban

Delhi: The central government has banned all activities at Parasnath Hills, where the Sammed Shikharji is located. After the Jharkhand government declared it as a tourist destination, the Jain community across the country had staged protests demanding the decision to be revoked and the sanctity of the place to be maintained.

The central government has also asked the state government to take strict action against anyone violating the ban. Activities such as consumption of liquor have been banned.

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and climate change Bhupendra Yadav tweeted, “Met Jain community members who have been urging to protect the sanctity of Sammed Shikhar… Assured them that PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s government is committed to preserving and protecting the rights of Jain community over all their religious sites, including Sammed Shikhar.”
