Centre Approves Two Major Railway Projects For Maharashtra. Know More Here.
New Delhi, October 7, 2025: The central government has given Maharashtra a major boost by approving two significant railway projects as part of four nationwide rail developments sanctioned in today’s Union Cabinet meeting.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, while briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting, announced that the government has approved four key railway corridors across India with a total estimated cost of ₹24,634 crore. Depending on the requirement and feasibility, some routes will feature four-track and others six-track rail lines to improve capacity and efficiency.
Among the approved projects, two are located in Maharashtra. The first involves the Wardha–Bhusawal railway route, where a multi-track system (three to four tracks) spanning approximately 314 km will be constructed. The second project, connecting Gondia in Maharashtra to Dongargarh in Chhattisgarh, covers 84 km and will be developed as a four-lane railway corridor.
In addition to these, the Cabinet also approved the Vadodara–Talampur and Itarsi–Bhopal–Bina railway projects. Notably, the Wardha–Bhusawal corridor is the longest among the four sanctioned routes.
Reacting to the decision, Amar Kale, Member of Parliament from Wardha (NCP–Sharad Pawar faction), expressed gratitude toward the Railway Minister.
“I wholeheartedly thank Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the third and fourth rail lines. This project will greatly benefit the people of Wardha and all regions along the route. The Minister has assured that the project will be completed within five years, and I sincerely hope it progresses as planned,” Kale said.
He further recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier visit to the Arvi Assembly constituency, where he had promised the Arvi–Pulgaon–Amla railway line.
“That project has seen no progress for years, but this new announcement brings renewed hope. As Wardha’s representative, I welcome the decision and look forward to its timely completion,” he added.
