Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand hosted a vibrant Pongal breakfast on Sunday, celebrating with fellow chess luminaries D. Gukesh, Praggnanandhaa, and Vidit Gujrathi. Pongal, marking the Tamil month of Thai, symbolizes new beginnings in Tamil Nadu, and the event turned into an unforgettable moment for fans.  

Dressed in traditional attire, the chess maestros broke into an impromptu dance. Though hesitant at first, Anand’s enthusiastic lead inspired everyone to join, resulting in a joyous moment that quickly went viral on social media. The clip left fans across the globe delighted by the light-hearted camaraderie of these chess legends.  

Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa are products of the WestBridge Anand Chess Academy (WACA), an initiative by Anand to nurture India’s emerging chess talent. The academy continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Indian chess.
