Pune | August 1, 2025: A dramatic robbery case involving a senior businessman in Pune has been cracked by the Pune Crime Branch’s Anti-Property Cell. The robbers, who tied up the elderly victim and looted valuables worth ₹6.15 lakh, were tracked and arrested after a 1,200-km chase to Rajasthan.

On the evening of July 19, five armed robbers broke into the bungalow of 76-year-old industrialist Chandrabhan Agarwal in Nigdi-Pradhikaran. The gang tied his hands and feet and looted gold and silver jewellery, expensive watches, and other valuables. While fleeing, they also tied up the watchman, his wife, and two children in a nearby room before escaping.

To avoid being traced, the robbers used walkie-talkies instead of mobile phones, making it difficult to track their location. The police, under the guidance of Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey and led by Senior Inspector Vijay Dhamal, scrutinised 200 CCTV clips and travelled over 1,200 km during the investigation.

Two of the accused — Suresh Laduram Dhaka (29) from Jalore, Rajasthan, and Mahipal Ramlal Vishnoi (19) from Vadgaon Maval — were arrested. Dhaka was caught in Jaipur, and Vishnoi was nabbed from Talegaon. Police recovered the Swift car used in the crime, four walkie-talkies, gold ornaments, mobile phones, fake number plates, and documents.
