Citizens pledge to keep neighborhood area clean

For the last few years residents of NIBM Undri road were in great trouble seeing the massive garbage which was lying unattended on the stretch between Bakers Point to Everjoy Society.
Numerous calls to the civic body yielded one time help. But the consistency deep cleaning up was somewhere lacking.
But when the heaps of garbage was becoming a health threat the residents took the matter in their hands and decided to stream line the process of cleaning up, educating people to stop dumping and also planted a few colourful Bougainville saplings on the stretch.
The work carried out by the residents and members of NIBM Undri Road Forum has been praised by many who felt helpless seeing the mountain of garbage.

The residents sought help from the health and sanitation staff of Prabhag 26 Hadapsar ward office who went an extra mile in cleaning up the road.
While members of the Anandvan Mitra Mandal alongwith their members planted Bougainville saplings to beautify the road.
On Saturday March 20 the sanitation workers received a thank you treat from all of us spobsored by The Golden Heart Foundation, an NGO working actively in NIBM Road. The gifts were distributed by the residents along with Nanda Lonkar followed by a sumptuous breakfast of idli chutney for all.

Local Corporator Nanda Lonkar said, “It was indeed a big task to bring people together and not just cleaning but beautifying the area too. I am glat to have such enthusiastic and nature lover residents living in my ward.”
The movement was spearheaded by Parveen Tambe, Shehnaz Chawla and Shamim Waghmale and supported by many residents Czarina Bhojwani, Dr Gunwant Oswal and Dr Prasad Oswal, Kumar Uncle,Bhupesh Sharma, Vishal Pawar, members of Anandvan Mitra Mandal and many others.
