In a bizarre twist to the world of crime, Bengaluru police have captured a man who ingeniously used pigeons as accomplices in his burglary spree.

The police in Bengaluru have apprehended a 38 year old man who employed pigeons to assist him in breaking into secured homes. The individual, identified as Manjunath, also referred to as “Parivala Manja,” is from Hosur but originally comes from Nagarathpet in Bengaluru. Authorities suspect that he has committed at least 50 burglaries throughout the city.

Manjunath had a unique approach to his crimes. He would take pigeons with him while looking for buildings to target, mainly focusing on multi-storey ones without security. After identifying a potential target, he would release a couple of pigeons nearby. The birds would typically land on rooftops or balconies, attracting minimal attention. If anyone questioned him, he would claim he was just trying to catch his pigeons, allowing him to fit in seamlessly.

Manjunath had a knack for breaking into locked homes once he identified them. Using an iron rod, he would forcefully enter through the front door and then proceed to ransack cupboards and safes, with a preference for stealing gold jewelry and cash. These stolen goods were later sold in Hosur. Despite being apprehended multiple times before, Manjunath persisted in his criminal endeavors, returning to his activities after each release on bail. His recent arrest has aided the police in solving at least four burglary cases in the City Market and Ulsoor Gate areas.

The police have confirmed that Manjunath acted alone and mostly targeted homes during the day when residents were at work. His arrest is considered a major breakthrough in addressing a string of burglaries that have plagued the area. Investigators are now optimistic about recovering more stolen items from his past crimes.
