Kaas Plateau, known for its stunning flower bloom, is seeing the colors start to fade as the season winds down. Most of the flowers on the plateau have bid farewell for this year. However, a few rare species and the unique Mickey Mouse plant with its yellow hues can still be spotted in some areas.

The blooming season on Kaas Plateau kicked off on September 5th this year. In the past month, thousands of tourists visited to enjoy the breathtaking landscape adorned with flowers. Due to favorable weather conditions with intermittent rains and sunshine, the plateau was covered with vibrant flower carpets, including the rare Topli Karvi, which blooms only once every seven years and appeared in abundance this season. The removal of iron fencing last year has also resulted in an increase in flower growth, allowing visitors to experience the plateau’s former glory.

Meanwhile, the Kumudini Pond is still flourishing with white lilies, creating a picturesque scene as the pond is blanketed with these beautiful blooms. This attraction has drawn large crowds, with lines of visitors along the road leading to the pond. Both the parking areas near Ghatwai Phata and Kaas Lake were filled with vehicles, causing significant traffic congestion. This year, managing the heavy traffic has been a challenge, underscoring the need for a permanent solution.

Due to the diminishing flower bloom on Kaas Plateau, online booking, facilitated by the Kaas Management Committee, will close after October 15th. Walk-in visitors will be allowed entry, and a decision on the end of the season will be made based on the flowers’ condition.
