Complete Karad-Chiplun Highway Work In Patan By December 15

Satara, July 13, 2025: Maharashtra’s Tourism, Mining, and Ex-Servicemen Welfare Minister and Satara Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai has instructed officials to complete the pending work on the Karad-Chiplun National Highway (NH-166E) in Patan taluka by December 15, once the monsoon subsides.
The directive was issued during a review meeting held at the government rest house in Daulat Nagar, Patan, to assess the progress and challenges related to the highway project. The meeting was chaired by Minister Desai and attended by District Collector Santosh Patil, CEO Yashni Nagarajan, Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi, Chief Engineer Santosh Shelar from the National Highway Regional Office (Mumbai), Executive Engineer of the PWD Rahul Ahire, Sub-Divisional Officer Sopaan Tompe, and Patan Tehsildar Anant Gurav, among others.
Expressing concern over the slow pace of the highway work in Patan taluka, Minister Desai said, “The delay is causing inconvenience to citizens and generating widespread complaints. After mid-August, rainfall typically reduces, and the work must be completed within three months thereafter.”
He further instructed the Water Supply Department to ensure that the new pipeline work under the drinking water scheme is completed simultaneously. Remaining encroachments must be removed immediately by issuing notices, with assistance from revenue and police officials, he added.
District Collector Santosh Patil emphasized that alternative routes should remain operational to avoid disruption of traffic during the highway construction.
