Couple Scams Elderly of ₹35 Crore with Fake 'Israel-made Time Machine' Promising Youth Restoration
Rajeev and Rashmi Dubey exploited elderly people’s desire for youth, defrauding them out of ₹35 crore with a fake oxygen therapy machine, claiming it could reverse aging.
In an extraordinary case of fraud, a Kanpur couple, Rajeev Kumar Dubey and his wife, Rashmi Dubey, allegedly swindled dozens of elderly individuals out of a staggering ₹35 crore by promising them a miraculous return to youth. Operating a fraudulent therapy center named Revival World in Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur, the couple convinced their victims that they had imported an ‘Israel-made time machine’ capable of reversing aging, claiming that pollution was accelerating the aging process and that their machine, combined with oxygen therapy, could restore youth.
The Dubeys charged ₹6,000 for 10 sessions or offered an extensive three-year plan for ₹90,000, assuring visible results within months. They falsely advertised their service as ‘Youth Restoration through Oxygen Therapy,’ preying on the fears of the elderly, who were eager to regain their youth.
A local police officer, revealed that the scam also operated as a pyramid scheme, where customers were offered free sessions for referring new clients. This tactic further expanded their fraudulent business, leading to the loss of ₹10.75 lakh by one victim alone. Police estimate that around 25 elderly couples fell for the scam.
Currently, the Dubeys are absconding, and law enforcement is conducting a manhunt to capture them. Authorities suspect that the couple has fled the country, and airports are being closely monitored to prevent their escape. The audacity and scale of the scam have shocked the local community, and investigations continue as police work to bring justice to the victims.
