Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has presented scooters to two individuals who played a crucial role in saving his life following a serious car accident.
India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant experienced a serious car accident in December 2022. The alarming incident, which occurred near Roorkee in Uttarakhand, resulted in a ligament tear in his right knee and two lacerations on his forehead.
Consequently, Pant has been sidelined from competitive cricket for over a year.
Rishabh Pant’s situation could have been considerably more concerning without the support of Rajat Kumar and Nishu Kumar, two individuals who came to Rishabh Pant’s aid following his accident.

“Honestly if you had seen him you would not have given him a hope in hell to play cricket again. I will never forget it. He was in terrible shape. I went to see him in hospital a month after he was injured. He was battered and bruised, scarred all over. He had a massive operation and had stitches all over the place. From there to simply recover and play cricket was a miracle. To then go on and play in a World Cup-winning team and be part of the Test team is a truly remarkable achievement,” cricketer Ravi shasthri elaborates the incident.
Rajat and Nishu, the individuals who saved him from the accident, received an unexpected gift. Pant presented them with scooters.
These initial responders following Pant’s tragic car accident in December 2022 played a crucial role. In a tweet from 2023, Pant expressed his gratitude, stating,“I may not have been able to thank everyone individually, but I must acknowledge these two heroes who helped me during my accident and ensured I got to the hospital safely. Rajat Kumar & Nishu Kumar, Thank you. I’ll be forever grateful and indebted.”
A video circulating widely on social media features the two boys who received scooters as gifts from Pant, showcasing them enjoying their new rides. Pant has frequently conveyed his deep appreciation to Rajat and Nishu for their heroic actions that saved his life during that tragic incident.
