Pune: The Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Public Ganpati Trust, in collaboration with Suvarnayug Tarun Mandal, will unveil a magnificent replica of Kerala’s iconic Shri Padmanabhaswamy Temple during its 133rd Ganesh festival celebrations. The Pranpratishtha (idol consecration) is scheduled for Wednesday, 27th August, at 11:11 a.m., followed by the electric illumination ceremony at 7:00 p.m.

Legacy of Shrimant Dagdusheth Ganpati

The Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple, established in 1893, is one of Pune’s most renowned places of worship. The idol was originally installed by Dagdusheth Halwai and his wife, Lakshmibai, following a personal tragedy, and the temple has since become a symbol of hope, faith, and devotion. Known for its rich tradition and grandeur, the Ganpati celebrations at Dagdusheth Temple attract lakhs of devotees every year, including prominent dignitaries and celebrities.

Historical Significance of Shri Padmanabhaswamy Temple

Located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, the Shri Padmanabhaswamy Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Famous for its Dravidian architecture and intricate carvings, the temple is also known for its immense treasures and centuries-old legacy. Lord Vishnu is worshipped in a reclining posture, symbolising eternal cosmic balance.

Replica Features and Facilities

The replica in Pune stands 100 feet tall and features a five-tier Gopuram with carvings of Krishna Leela, Ramayana, and Saptarishi, along with sculptures of elephants, lions, and horses. Idols of Vishnu-Lakshmi, Shiva-Parvati, Shri Krishna, and Narasimha will be placed in the sanctum.

Four LED screens will facilitate smooth darshan, while 24/7 live streaming will be available via the Trust’s website and apps. Security will be ensured with 150 CCTV cameras and 250 personnel.
