The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, spanning 1,350 kilometers, is set to make history as India’s first expressway with operational helipads. The government has finalized plans to construct 12 helipads along the route, all located in Rajasthan, to cater to medical emergencies and military operations.

These helipads will enable rapid airlifting of injured individuals during accidents and support the armed forces in strategic operations.

Unique Features of the Expressway

• Wildlife Corridor: A dedicated wildlife crossing will allow animals to traverse safely, shielded from vehicle horns and sirens. To reduce noise pollution, traditional musical instruments will be used to alert wildlife.

• Length and Reach: The expressway passes through four states, with 374 kilometers running through Rajasthan.

This ambitious infrastructure project not only enhances transportation but also prioritizes safety, ecological conservation, and emergency preparedness, setting new standards for expressway design in India.
