This year’s Dhanteras, celebrated on October 29, 2024, marks the commencement of the Diwali festivities. In a unique twist, popular online grocery services such as Swiggy Instamart, Blinkit, Bigbasket, and Zepto are providing delivery of gold and silver coins within just 10 minutes.

Dhanteras is regarded as one of the most auspicious days for purchasing valuable items. Traditionally, on this day, people buy brass, silver, and gold products, believing that these purchases will bring prosperity, good luck, and protection from negativity.

To cater to this demand, several partnerships have been formed. Blinkit has collaborated with Joyalukkas and Malabar Gold & Diamonds; Zepto has teamed up with Augmont and Malabar Gold & Diamonds; Swiggy Instamart has aligned with Nek by Jar, Muthoot Exim, and Malabar; while Bigbasket has joined forces with Tanishq, a Tata-owned jewelry brand.

Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi, is celebrated with enthusiasm among Hindus. The day is dedicated to worshipping Lord Kuber, the deity of wealth, and Lord Dhanvantri, the god of health. The term “Dhan” signifies wealth, while “Teras” refers to the thirteenth day; thus, it is a day for acquiring gold, silver, and other auspicious items, celebrated on the 13th lunar day of Krishna Paksha.
