Diamond Trader Kidnapped in Pune; Kidnappers Demand ₹2 Crore Ransom
Pune: A businessman involved in the diamond jewelry trade was kidnapped on Monday evening, with the abductors demanding a ransom of ₹2 crore. The incident came to light when the kidnappers called the victim’s wife, threatening her and instructing her to arrange the money.
According to police sources, the businessman, a resident of Satara Road, had gone to the Camp area after dropping his children at school in Gultekdi. Around 5 PM, he called his wife, informing her that he would be home soon. However, an hour later, she received a call from his phone, but an unfamiliar voice was on the line.
The caller stated, “We have kidnapped your husband. Arrange ₹2 crore within two hours,” before switching off the phone.
Panicked, the businessman’s wife immediately contacted the police control room and reported the abduction. Officers from Bibwewadi Police Station and the Crime Branch swiftly reached the scene and initiated an investigation.
Preliminary police inquiries suggest that the abduction may be linked to a financial dispute. Authorities are actively investigating the case to track down the kidnappers and rescue the businessman.
