Doctors Find Uterus and Ovary Inside Father of Two During Hernia Surgery in UP
In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, Rajgir Mistri, a 46-year-old father of two, sought medical help for severe stomach pain. Initially suspected to be a hernia, an ultrasound revealed an unusual issue: a piece of flesh in his abdomen was actually an underdeveloped uterus and an ovary.
Mistri’s pain led him to get an ultrasound, which showed a hernia caused by this abnormal tissue. He then attended a free hernia check-up camp where Dr. Narendra Dev from BRD Medical College reviewed his case. During surgery, Dr. Dev discovered the reproductive organs inside Mistri’s body.
Mistri has since recovered from the surgery. Dr. Dev explained that this condition was a rare birth deformity, and Mistri did not exhibit any female characteristics.
Rajgir Mistri’s condition seems to be a case of persistent Müllerian duct syndrome (PMDS) or a similar anomaly. PMDS is a rare genetic disorder in males where female reproductive structures persist despite the presence of male traits. This occurs due to a failure in the normal regression of Müllerian ducts during fetal development.
