EIB Delegation Reviews Pune Metro Expansion, Expresses Interest In Future Collaboration
Pune, March 11, 2025: A delegation from the European Investment Bank (EIB) conducted a three-day visit to assess the progress of the Pune Metro Rail Project. The delegation inspected ongoing construction on the extended corridors of Phase 1, including the PCMC-to-Nigdi stretch and the Swargate-to-Katraj corridor, while also reviewing the operational infrastructure of the completed sections.
During their visit, the EIB officials commended Maha-Metro for its development efforts and evaluated the proposed Phase 2 expansion. They expressed a positive outlook on potential financial collaboration for future metro projects in Pune.
Maha-Metro’s Managing Director, Shravan Hardikar (IAS), along with Pune Metro Directors Atul Gadgil (Works), Vinod Kumar Agarwal (Operations, Systems & Maintenance), and Harendra Pandey (Finance), accompanied the delegation during the review. Senior officials were also present to provide insights into the project’s progress.
The visit highlighted Pune Metro’s commitment to sustainable urban transport and reinforced its global partnership with the EIB for future expansion.
