In a harrowing incident that has sparked widespread outrage, an elderly man was found in a near-unconscious state inside a locked car parked near the western gate of the Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The vehicle, marked with a Maharashtra number plate and a ‘Government of Maharashtra’ sticker, had reportedly been left parked for several hours under the scorching sun while the man suffered inside.

To the shock of onlookers, the elderly man—identified as Hariom Tandale—was found with his hands and feet tied with cloth, gasping for air in the intense heat. His condition had severely deteriorated by the time help arrived.

The incident came to light when a security guard on duty noticed the suspiciously idle car. Upon peering through the window, he spotted the elderly man lying motionless inside. Reacting swiftly, the guard called others to assist him, and they broke the window to rescue the man.

“He looked lifeless when we pulled him out,” said local tourist guide Mohammad Aslam, an eyewitness to the rescue. “His hands and legs were tied, and he couldn’t speak or even move. It was truly heartbreaking to witness.”

After being freed, the elderly man was given water, but he was unable to respond or communicate. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance for emergency treatment. His condition was reported as serious, though medical staff later noted some signs of improvement.

Inspector Kunwar Singh from Tajganj Police Station emphasized the alarming nature of the case. “This appears to be a clear case of extreme negligence, possibly bordering on inhuman behavior,” he said. “Tying up the elderly man’s limbs and leaving him in a locked vehicle under the sun is unacceptable. We are currently identifying the owner and tracing the full details of the incident.”

Further investigation revealed that the car belongs to Siddheshwar Tandale, a resident of Mumbai. According to police officials, Siddheshwar had come to Agra with his family on a sightseeing trip and allegedly left his elderly father, Hariom Tandale, locked inside the car while the rest of the family visited the monument.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sonam Kumar provided additional information, saying, “Siddheshwar Tandale and his family were visiting the Taj Mahal. For reasons unknown, they left his elderly father inside the vehicle with his limbs bound. After the rescue, his condition began to improve slightly.”

Interestingly, no official complaint has been lodged by either side. “The family has now left the location with the elderly man after medical attention,” DCP Kumar added. The presence of luggage tied to the roof of the car confirmed that the family was on a road trip from Maharashtra. However, the decision to leave a vulnerable elderly person in such a dangerous condition has drawn severe criticism, with many calling for legal action and stricter accountability.
