Pune Division, Central Railway, has recently e auctioned space at these station to open  Emergency Medical Rooms (EMR) at Ahmednagar and Miraj railway stations to enhance passenger safety and provide prompt medical assistance. These EMRs are strategically located to ensure immediate medical aid, especially during critical health emergencies, thereby potentially saving lives.

This initiative has been implemented under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Pune, Shri Rajesh Kumar Verma, and it is driven forward under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Dr. Milind Hirwe. The project is effectively managed under the supervision of Divisional Commercial Manager, Hemant Kumar Behera.

These EMRs not only enhance passenger safety but also contribute to the financial sustainability of Indian Railways. The license for Ahmednagar has been awarded to M/s Moraya Multi Speciality Hospital, Ahmednagar, with a license fee of ₹ 91,000/- per annum, while for Miraj, it has been awarded to M/s Sevasadan Lifeline Pvt Ltd, Sangli, with a license fee of ₹ 99,999/- per annum. Both the contracts are being awarded for 5 years. This makes the potential earning for Railways ₹ 1,90,999/- per annum, thereby supporting revenue generation while ensuring passenger welfare.

  • 24×7 Medical Facility: Both EMRs operate round-the-clock to provide medical assistance to passengers.
  • Pharmacy Facility: Out of the total area, 100 sq ft is dedicated to a pharmacy at both stations, ensuring easy access to essential medicines.
  • Area Allotted: 600 sq ft (Circulating area) is allotted for EMRs at both Ahmednagar and Miraj stations.
  • Professional Medical Staff: The licensees will recruit the necessary professional medical staff to operate the EMRs efficiently.
  • Basic Medical Equipment: All essential medical equipment will be provided by the licensees, ensuring comprehensive medical care.
  • Accessibility: Medical facilities will be available to both bonafide (ticket-holding) and non-bonafide (non-ticket-holding) passengers.
  • Emergency Response: In the event of any untoward incident or medical emergency on the train, the EMR doctors at Ahmednagar and Miraj will provide immediate assistance.
