Pune: Security at Pune Railway Station has been significantly upgraded with the installation of advanced baggage scanning machines. Railway police have intensified surveillance to monitor suspicious activities and ensure passenger safety.

With over 200 trains passing through daily and more than 1.5 lakh passengers commuting, Pune Railway Station operates round the clock. Transporting flammable items, explosives, or weapons is strictly prohibited. Previously, the station had only one baggage scanner, which had malfunctioned for a period.

To enhance security, the old scanner has been repaired, and two additional scanning machines have been installed.

Strengthened Security Arrangements

  • Three Scanners in Operation: The station now has three baggage scanning machines—one existing and two newly installed.
  • Dedicated Security Personnel: A team of 18 officials, including 16 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, a senior officer, and an assistant officer, has been deployed.
  • Strict Platform Entry Rules: Only passengers whose baggage has been scanned will be allowed access to the platform.

The upgraded security measures aim to improve passenger safety and streamline security checks at one of Maharashtra’s busiest railway stations.
