‘Everyone’s Mother Dies’: UCO Bank Officer’s Alleged Cruel Remarks Spark Internet Fury
A shocking email about the behaviour of a senior UCO Bank officer has set off a storm on social media. The email, which quickly went viral after it was shared by a user named Venkatesh Alla on X (formerly Twitter), carries the subject line: “Complaint Regarding Inhuman and Toxic Behavior by Zonal Head, Chennai – Request for Immediate Action.”
Venkatesh Alla posted a screenshot of the email along with a caption that captured the alleged remarks. He wrote, “Mother died? – ‘Everyone’s mother dies, don’t be dramatic.’ Child in ICU? – ‘Are you a doctor? Go to office or LWP.’ Wife hospitalized? – ‘You are useless.’ This is how @UCOBank’s Zonal Head treats his own officers. Not leadership, but barbaric dictatorship. Shame on this toxic system! @RBI @DFS_India @FinMinIndia are comfortably in coma while this kind of cruelty happening in Banks.” These lines quickly spread across the internet, leaving people shocked and angry.
The Complaint Against the Zonal Head
The email is addressed to the bank’s top management and names RS Ajith, Zonal Head of the Chennai Zone. It accuses him of creating an environment of “fear and oppression,” and of treating officers “more like subordinates” than respected professionals. The complaint describes him as “dictatorial, abusive, and insensitive.” It also lists incidents where employees were allegedly denied leave even when dealing with serious family emergencies.
Painful Incidents Detailed in the Email
One example in the email describes a branch head who asked for leave when his mother was in the ICU. According to the complaint, the zonal head replied by first asking when the officer would return before granting permission. In another case, when a branch head lost his mother, the email claims Ajith said, “Everyone’s mother dies. Don’t be dramatic, be practical. Join immediately, or I will mark LWP,” and later even issued an official letter against the officer.
The email goes on to mention an incident where a branch head’s one-year-old daughter was hospitalised. It alleges that Ajith told the officer, “Are you a doctor? Why are you at the hospital? Go to the office immediately, else I will mark LWP.” In yet another case, when an officer’s wife needed urgent hospital care for a life-threatening condition, the complaint says the zonal head dismissed the request with harsh and hurtful remarks.

Public Reaction and Widespread Outrage
The email’s details have struck a nerve online. Social media users are condemning what they see as cruelty hidden behind the idea of discipline. One user wrote, “That’s really inhumane and harassment, that Zonal head should be terminated immediately if all these incidents are true.”
Another shared that such behaviour is not rare, saying, “This is not the only UCO Bank doing this, my sister works in a private bank in Kerala and she has faced similar situations hell no. of times. A few years ago, branch head asked her to go and mark attendance from bank when doctor had asked for complete bed rest.”
Others expressed shock at how common such pressure has become. “It’s shocking how common this has become just to hit targets. Strict action against such inhuman behavior is the only way to send a message,” another user commented.
While the email has spread widely and triggered strong criticism, UCO Bank and the Chennai zonal office have not released any official statement on the allegations. For now, the email continues to circulate, with many calling for a thorough investigation into the claims.
