Ex MLC Mohan Joshi Criticizes Pune Airport Terminal For Missing Facilities And Delays
Pune’s newly inaugurated airport terminal has come under scrutiny for its lack of essential facilities. Former MLA and Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Vice President Mohan Joshi has criticized the terminal’s shortcomings, highlighting issues faced by passengers. Travelers expressed frustration on social media, noting the absence of crucial services and inadequate infrastructure despite the terminal’s recent opening.
A tweet on X said, “Most ridiculous experience at “new” pune airport. You took months after “inauguration“ to start ops, still till date : No DigiYatra, need physical X-ray of check in baggage, no info display, no lounge, inadequate manpower & infra !! Why do we deserve this?
The terminal, which was completed a year ago, faced delays due to scheduling around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit and was eventually opened six months before the Lok Sabha elections. However, it remained closed to the public for an additional five months and only began operations a month ago.
Joshi pointed out several missing amenities, including Digi Yatra counters, which allow for faster passenger processing, and essential facilities like lounges, customs and immigration counters, and retail outlets. Despite being operational for a month, these services remain unavailable, causing inconvenience for travelers.
Joshi urged the government and Civil Aviation Minister Murlidhar Mohol to prioritize improving passenger amenities rather than focusing on publicity. He criticised the government for delaying the terminal’s opening and failing to provide promised facilities even after the extended timeline.
