Pune, July 10, 2025: Maharashtra Legislative Council member Yogesh Tilekar has urged the government to extend Pune Metro’s proposed route up to Yeolewadi-Kondhwa to enhance connectivity for the growing population in the area. He raised this demand during the ongoing Assembly session, citing the need to integrate the southern Pune suburbs into the city’s expanding metro network.

Tilekar also called for the construction of a grand memorial for Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj at Dharmaveer Fort in the Ahilyanagar district to honour the Maratha warrior king’s valour and sacrifice. Responding positively, State Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar assured that the proposal for the memorial would be considered soon.

During the supplementary demands session, Tilekar raised several other issues, including setting up a Mahajyoti Center in Pune to support students preparing for competitive exams and developing a heritage complex named after Ahilyadevi and Savitribai Phule on government land along Katraj-Kondhwa Road.
