A 71-year-old woman from Tingre Nagar was tricked by three individuals posing as police officers, who stole her gold ornaments worth ₹2.75 lakh on Airport Road in Vishrantwadi.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when the woman and her husband were walking near Joshi Wadewale. The three conmen, pretending to be police officials, approached her and claimed to be conducting an investigation. They instructed her to remove her jewellery for safety reasons.
After she complied, the suspects cleverly distracted her and fled with the gold ornaments. It was only later that she realized her jewellery was missing. She then filed a complaint at Vishrantwadi police station.
Police Sub-Inspector Anil Padekar, who is investigating the case, confirmed that no arrests have been made yet. The suspects have been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious and verify identities before complying with such requests.
