Pune, November 7, 2024: During the Dussehra and Diwali festive season, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a crackdown across Pune district and region, seizing adulterated food items including milk, cow ghee, contaminated butter, sweetened khoya, and vanaspati, amounting to a total value of ₹24,07,918.

In Pune district alone, inspections were conducted at 48 food establishments, and 55 samples were collected for analysis. Among the seized items were cow ghee, adulterated butter, sweetened khoya, vanaspati, and other foods valued at ₹14,88,398. Across the Pune region, 83 food establishments were inspected, with 102 samples sent for analysis. Following raids on various establishments, suspicious adulterated items worth ₹9,19,520 were seized.

The FDA’s Pune team, including assistant commissioners and food safety officers, led this operation. Once laboratory reports are received, further action will be taken as per the law.
