Maharashtra’s school education department has announced the final round of First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions for the academic year 2025–26, with over 8.51 lakh seats still lying vacant across the state.

High Vacancies Despite Record Registrations

According to the education department, a total of 21.54 lakh students have applied for admissions, including 36,995 new registrations as of August 19. Of these, 12.78 lakh students have already secured seats, while a large number of vacancies remain across Commerce, Arts, and Bifocal streams.

Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, and Amravati account for the highest number of unfilled seats, including 74,000 in general junior colleges and over 4,200 in bifocal courses.

Key Dates for Final Admission Round

State Education Director (Secondary) Mahesh Palkar announced that:

  • Students can fill or update admission forms until August 23, 6 PM.
  • The vacant seat list will be published on August 25.
  • Merit list and allotments will be announced between August 26–29.
  • Students allotted seats must confirm admission by August 29–30, failing which the allotment will be cancelled.

Palkar emphasised, “This is the last opportunity for students to secure admission for 2025–26. We urge applicants to check vacant seat lists carefully and complete the process within the given timeline.”

Admissions are being conducted exclusively via the official portal https://mahafyjcadmissions.in. Updates will be sent via SMS, while cutoff lists will also be published online.
