PUNE: Three FIRs were filed in Pune against individuals who allegedly affixed stickers depicting the Israel flag on various roads throughout the city on Friday night, with the purported intention of disrupting social harmony.

According to the FIR registered at Samarth police station, the stickers were placed on the road near Hope Hospital in Nana Peth at approximately 11:50 pm on Friday.

Senior police inspector Suraj Bangdar and other law enforcement officials visited the location. The FIR stated that two individuals, namely Saeed Pathan and Shahnawaz Shaikh, allegedly obtained these stickers from an individual named Hafiq Shaikh, also known as Nonya, and adhered them to the streets where pedestrians walked, purportedly inciting violence and impeding social harmony.

The police have charged Pathan, Shahnawaz, and Nonya under sections 153 (provocation with intent to cause a riot) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

In a similar occurrence, stickers featuring the Israel flag were affixed to Mahatma Phule Road near Chudaman Talim in Bhavani Peth at around 11:45 pm on Friday.

Upon receiving the information, a police team, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, visited the site. An FIR was registered against unidentified individuals in this case. 

Additionally, Israel flag stickers were found on the streets in the Pune Camp area, resulting in the filing of an FIR against six individuals.
