Four Private Hospitals In Pune Served Show-Cause Notices For Nursing Home Norm Violations
Pune, August 8, 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued show-cause notices to four private hospitals for violating provisions of the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act, 1949 and the Maharashtra Nursing Home Registration (Amendment) Rules, 2021. The hospitals, located in Shivajinagar and Dhankawdi, were flagged during a month-long inspection drive launched in July within PMC limits.
According to Dr. Suryakant Devkar, assistant health officer at PMC, the four hospitals were found operating without complying with several essential norms. “Two hospitals lacked a valid fire No-Objection Certificate (NOC) and did not maintain a patient complaint book. Others failed to display the treatment tariff and the patients’ charter of rights, which is mandatory,” he said.
The erring hospitals have been given one month to ensure full compliance and submit a report to the PMC. A reinspection will be carried out by ward medical officers, and strict action will follow in case of non-compliance.
This action comes as part of PMC’s wider scrutiny of registered medical establishments. So far, 265 hospitals and nursing homes have been inspected out of 876 registered under PMC. The civic body aims to complete inspections of all by the end of August.
The PMC continues its efforts to ensure that private healthcare facilities operate within regulatory frameworks, prioritizing patient safety and transparency.
