Free Aadhaar Update Ends on This Date: Here’s How to Do It Online
Don’t miss the deadline to update your Aadhaar card for free. Here’s a simple guide to help you complete the process online before June 14, 2025.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that Aadhaar cardholders can update their Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents for free, but only until June 14, 2025.
As per the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulations, 2016, individuals must update these documents every 10 years from the date of their Aadhaar enrolment. After this deadline, the update will no longer be free and must be done in person at an Aadhaar centre for a standard fee of ₹50.
If you haven’t updated your Aadhaar in the past decade, now is the best time to do it online for free.
Step-by-Step: How to Update Aadhaar Online for Free
- Visit the official myAadhaar portal
Open your browser and go to:
https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in - Log in
Click the blue “Login” button, enter your Aadhaar number and captcha, and then authenticate using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. - Check your document status
Once logged in, check if your Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) are still valid or outdated. - Click on “Document Update”
If your documents are outdated, click on “Document Update” in the top-right section. - Upload new documents
Select the type of documents you want to update and upload the required files.- Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, PDF
- Maximum file size: Less than 2MB
- Submit and track your request
After uploading, review your submission and click Submit. You’ll receive a Service Request Number (SRN) to track the status of your update.
Note:
To update other details like your photograph, biometrics, mobile number, or email ID, you must visit a physical Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
This free online update service ends on June 14, 2025. After that, updates will cost ₹50 and require in-person verification. Take advantage of this window while it lasts.
