Whether it’s food served on trains, in restaurants and fast food chains, or packaged in factories, none of the eateries are taking care of the hygiene and contamination.
Food safety is becoming a major concern for India. Recently, countless food contamination incidents have occurred, where cockroaches, rats and other insects were found, and have been shared on social media.
Now, another such incident has come to light from a sweet shop in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad.
A customer in Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram has accused Bikaner sweets of selling a samosa containing a frog leg, causing an uproar on Wednesday evening, September 11. A video of this has gone viral on social media, showing a man holding a samosa with a dark object inside, claimed to be a frog leg.
As the video goes on, the customer shows the shop he bought the samosa from viz. – Bikaner Sweets in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. The video then transitions to show a group of people walking upto the receptionist, asking to see the owner while showing the contaminated samosa. One of the man in the video can be heard asking another to dial 100 (the police helpline number).
Another person in the video remarks that they specifically chose to buy samosas from this shop, despite having other options available.
Following the commotion, the police detained the shopkeeper for disturbing the peace, while the Food Safety Department collected samples for investigation.
Food Safety Officer Narendra Singh stated that the customer returned after initially buying the samosa and made the accusation. The shop, affiliated with a well-known company, is under scrutiny pending the investigation results.
Many people expressed their concern in the comments section of the video. Here’s what they said:
“The incident of finding frog legs in samosas of Bikaner Sweets in Ghaziabad is extremely worrying. Strict action should be taken against such incidents to ensure food safety,” claimed an individual.
Another added, “The situation is very bad, people do not take care of cleanliness.”
“Many such cases have come to light before, action should be taken on this,” shared a third.
A fourth claimed, “Nobody who prepares or serves food at these shops wears caps. And everyone has very long nails. Where all this is being prepared, health and hygiene are absolutely zero. Homemade food is the best.”
