Pune, October 10, 2025: Pune’s Shrikant Badve is the newest name to join India’s growing list of billionaires. His company, Belrise Industries, has become the latest success story of Dalal Street, with the stock jumping more than 80% since its listing. But behind those big numbers lies a story of grit, belief, and quiet determination, one that began not in a boardroom but in a tiny workshop with just three people and a big dream.

A Risk That Changed Everything

Back in 1988, when most engineers were looking for stable jobs, Shrikant Badve decided to take a risk that many would have called foolish. With three workers, limited funds, and a small space in Pune, he started a small unit called Badve Engineering. There was no glamour, just basic machines and endless hard work.

Badve, an electronics and telecommunication engineer, dreamed of building something world-class. He wanted to make top-quality auto components right here in India. Over the years, his vision and determination turned that small workshop into what we now known as Belrise Industries, one of India’s leading automotive component manufacturers.

From 3 Workers to 8,000 Employees

The story of Belrise is nothing short of inspiring. What started as a three-person operation now employs over 8,000 people across 17 manufacturing facilities in India. The company supplies metal systems and components to some of the biggest names in the two-wheeler, passenger car, and commercial vehicle sectors.

Its turnover has crossed ₹7,000 crore, and it now controls a significant share of India’s two-wheeler metal component market. But success for Badve wasn’t just about building a profitable business, it was about building something that made India proud.

From Workshop Floors to Working with Icons

As Belrise grew, so did Shrikant Badve’s reputation as a visionary entrepreneur. His leadership style was hands-on, he preferred walking through factory floors, talking to engineers, and encouraging new ideas instead of sitting in corner offices.

His achievements didn’t go unnoticed. Today, he’s part of Magnetic Maharashtra, the state’s flagship initiative to promote industrial growth and investment. And interestingly, he shares that platform with icons like Sachin Tendulkar and Madhuri Dixit, who represent excellence in their respective fields.

A Billionaire Who Thinks Beyond Wealth

Shrikant Badve now owns 59.56% of Belrise Industries, that’s nearly 53 crore shares valued at around ₹9,550 crore. But despite being worth billions, those who know him say he remains grounded.

He believes a company grows when its people grow. That’s why Belrise focuses on green manufacturing and sustainable innovation, ideas that not only improve production but also make a positive impact on the planet. For Badve, money isn’t the goal; it’s simply the outcome of doing good work with the right intent.

A Mentor and a Changemaker

Beyond Belrise, Badve has taken on several roles that shape the future of India’s industry. He serves on the Economic Advisory Council to the Maharashtra government and is also on the Board of Governors at IIM Jammu. His work has earned him recognition both in India and abroad, including honors from the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance.

Yet, he isn’t one to flaunt his achievements. Those close to him describe him as focused and humble, someone who still gets excited talking about new manufacturing ideas instead of stock prices.

Shrikant Badve’s journey shows that success doesn’t always come from big beginnings. It can grow quietly, from a small workshop, a few machines, and a heart full of belief. Today, Belrise Industries is valued at nearly ₹95,500 crore, but what that number really reflects is 35 years of hard work, resilience, and trust in Indian engineering.
