Before marrying Vani Ganapati, Kamal Haasan had a relationship with actress Srividya, and while he was married to Sarika, he was also involved with her before they got married. The superstar’s romantic history had a notable effect on his daughters, including Shruti.
Shruti expressed that she often felt irritated when she heard her father’s name mentioned. The actress, known for her strong role in ‘Gabbar Is Back,’ admitted that questions about her famous father made her feel uneasy. To cope with this, she sometimes acted as if she didn’t know anything. While Shruti stated that she takes pride in being the daughter of Kamal Haasan and Sarika, she frequently felt frustrated during her childhood when strangers would ask about her parents.
Because of her father, Shruti changed her name. She explained that people often pointed at her and said, “Hey, this is Kamal’s daughter.” To avoid the attention, she would pretend not to know and claim that her father was Dr. Ramachandran, saying that she was Pooja Ramachandran, which was actually the name of their dentist. The name Pooja was something she invented herself. Shruti also mentioned that she always recognized her father as a regular person.
She remarked, “If there are posters of your famous father everywhere, it’s difficult to separate yourself from his fame. Today, I can’t even imagine Shruti Haasan without Kamal Haasan.”
