Fuel Scam: BMW’s 70-Liter Tank Issued 76-Liter Bill, Only 57 Liters Found After Draining
Karnal: Shockwaves hit Karnal after a BMW driver exposed a diesel fraud at Tejendra Petrol Pump near Alpha City on GT Road. What seemed like a routine refueling soon turned into a two-hour standoff that revealed glaring irregularities in fuel measurement. On Wednesday afternoon, BMW owner Ravindra asked staff to fill his 70-liter fuel tank. Moments later, a female employee handed him a bill for 76.70 liters of diesel—an impossible figure considering the tank’s capacity.
Startled by the receipt, Ravindra questioned the staff: “My car’s tank can only hold 70 liters, so how did you fill more than 76 liters?” The argument intensified, forcing police to arrive at the scene.
In the presence of officers, the car’s fuel was drained. The result shocked everyone—only 57 liters came out, even though the car already had more than five liters before refueling. This revealed a shortage of nearly 20 liters, suggesting a clear case of malpractice.
The chaos lasted for nearly two hours and was captured on video, which is now circulating widely across social media. Ravindra added that the staff initially resisted but later agreed to drain the fuel, which further deepened doubts about the pump’s practices.
The petrol pump manager attempted to defend the discrepancy by claiming that some diesel still remained in the tank and could only be removed if a mechanic opened it. Ravindra dismissed this reasoning, insisting the fraud was obvious. Investigating Officer SI Sandeep confirmed that official action will depend on the driver’s complaint. District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC) Anil Kumar also stated, “If we receive a formal complaint, a proper inquiry will be conducted.”
