The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Future of Jobs Report 2025 highlights major workforce trends for the coming years. According to the report, 170 million new jobs are expected to be created globally by 2030, while 90 million jobs may become obsolete.

Technological advancements, demographic shifts, geopolitical tensions, and economic pressures are identified as the main factors influencing these changes. These elements are reshaping industries and businesses worldwide.

The report, based on data from over 1,000 companies, states that 63% of the global workforce lacks the necessary skills for their current roles. About 40% of job-required skills are expected to change in the next five years, creating a significant challenge for businesses.

The demand for technological skills like artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and cybersecurity is expected to grow rapidly. However, the report also notes that basic human skills like creative thinking, flexibility, and agility will become equally vital, despite facing a slight decline in demand.

By 2030, roles in caregiving, education, renewable energy, and AI are projected to see the highest job growth. Advancements in AI and renewable energy are shaping markets and driving the demand for specialized roles.

The WEF report emphasizes the need for upskilling and reskilling to meet changing job requirements. Businesses and employees must adapt to the evolving landscape to remain competitive in a rapidly transforming world.
