This beloved festival marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, revered as the remover of obstacles and the bringer of wisdom and prosperity. From households to grand pandals, devotees prepare months in advance to welcome Ganpati Bappa with great zeal.

The 10-day celebration is one of the most cherished occasions in the Hindu calendar, beginning on Chaturthi Tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada and concluding on Anant Chaturdashi. During this time, prayers, rituals, and cultural programs unite families and communities in reverence and joy.

When is Ganesh Chaturthi 2025?

As per the Hindu Panchang, the Chaturthi Tithi of Bhadrapada month will start on 26 August 2025 at 1:54 PM and end on 27 August 2025 at 3:44 PM. Considering the tithi and panchang, this year Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on 27 August 2025, Wednesday.

Auspicious Time for Ganesh Installation

Scriptures consider Madhyahna Kaal (midday) the most auspicious time for installing Lord Ganesha, as it is believed to be the period of his birth.

In 2025, the best time for Ganesh Sthapana will be on 27 August from 11:05 AM to 1:40 PM. Worship performed during this period is said to bring fulfillment of wishes and blessings of success.

Special Yogas on Ganesh Chaturthi 2025

This year’s Ganesh Chaturthi is considered particularly significant. The festival begins on a Wednesday, a day associated with auspiciousness in Vedic traditions. Along with this, several rare and favorable yogas will occur on the day:

• Shubh Yoga

• Shukla Yoga

• Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga

• Ravi Yoga

Additionally, Hasta Nakshatra and Chitra Nakshatra will be in effect, further enhancing the importance of the day.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 Puja Vidhi

Devotees prepare carefully for Ganesh Sthapana and worship. The rituals include:

Clean and decorate the place of worship with flowers, rangoli, and other decorative items.

Place the idol of Lord Ganesha on an altar, spreading a red or yellow cloth beneath it.

Before starting, hold water, flowers, and rice in your hands to take the vow of puja or vrat.

Invoke Lord Ganesha by chanting “Om Gan Ganapataye Namah.”

Bathe the idol with Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar).

Adorn the idol with fresh clothes and ornaments.

Offer modaks and laddoos, Lord Ganesha’s favorite sweets, along with durva grass, red flowers, and sindoor.

Conclude the worship with aarti performed by the whole family together.

Ganesh Visarjan 2025

Ganesh Visarjan, the farewell of Lord Ganesha’s idol, is carried out on Anant Chaturdashi. In 2025, Anant Chaturdashi falls on 6 September 2025, Saturday. On this day, processions with music, dance, and chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya” will mark the end of the festival, with idols immersed in rivers, lakes, or the sea.
