Gas Theft Explosion Shocks Pune: A Recurring Threat to Lives
Gas theft incidents are sadly not uncommon in Pune, and they have caused distress to many individuals in the past. Despite efforts to curb this illegal activity, gas theft continues to persist. Recently, a horrifying explosion occurred during one such theft attempt.
The incident took place in Shell Pimpalgaon on the Chakan-Shikrapur road around 5 am today. Multiple explosions rocked the area as thieves attempted to siphon gas from a container, resulting in extensive damage. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in this explosion, which occurred near a dhaba where the theft was taking place.
The explosion caused several tanks to burst, leading to a massive fire that engulfed the dhaba and nearby vehicles. Additionally, surrounding houses sustained damage from the shockwave of the explosion. Authorities are investigating the incident, reminiscent of a similar shocking event in Pimpri Chinchwad last year.
This recurring pattern of gas theft not only poses a threat to lives but also highlights the persistent issue of gas smuggling in the region.
