After Delhi’s successful pilot, custom-designed luxury caravans now available for intercity travel — blending comfort, privacy, and convenience for long-distance journeys.

Uber has announced the expansion of its Intercity Motorhome service to Pune and Mumbai, offering travellers a new way to experience long-distance road trips in comfort and style. Following a successful one-month pilot in Delhi that saw full occupancy during the monsoon travel season, the service will now be available in western India starting October 15, with advance bookings open from October 13.

What the service offers

Each Intercity Motorhome is a custom-designed caravan equipped to accommodate four to five passengers, along with a driver and helper.
Features include:
• Television for entertainment during travel
• Microwave and mini-refrigerator for refreshments
• Onboard lavatory for added convenience
• Private, lounge-like interiors with comfortable seating

Riders can book these vehicles in advance through Uber Reserve, which also provides live ride tracking and 24×7 customer support for safety and ease of travel.

Why it’s launching now

Uber’s expansion coincides with the October–December travel season, a period marked by pleasant weather, festive holidays, and an uptick in tourism and weekend getaways. The company noted that families and groups often prefer comfortable and private travel options during this time — a demand the Intercity Motorhome service aims to meet.

Booking and availability

• Advance Booking: Motorhomes must be reserved at least 48 hours before the planned trip.
• Flexible Travel: Users can extend stops along the route and customise their journey.
• Live Tracking: Real-time tracking and support ensure peace of mind for travellers.
• Continued Service: The offering in Delhi NCR will continue until December 31, 2025, while Pune and Mumbai rides begin mid-October.

What Uber says

Shiva Shailendran, Director of Consumer Growth at Uber India and South Asia, said,

“The response to Intercity Motorhomes underscores the growing appetite for dependable and comfortable travel between cities. With continued success and expansion to more cities, we’re strengthening Intercity’s position as the go-to option for long-distance travel across India.”

Uber’s move into motorhome-based intercity travel marks a new chapter in India’s evolving road travel market, offering travellers the luxury of a private, well-equipped caravan for weekend getaways, family trips, or work-related journeys.
