P.K. Chowk in the Pimple Saudagar area has become increasingly dangerous for commuters due to severe traffic congestion, disorganized signaling, and frequent accidents. In light of these pressing issues, BJP Pimpri-Chinchwad City President and Corporator Shatrughna (Bapu) Kate conducted an on-ground inspection of the area.

P.K. Chowk is a key junction in the city, connecting the densely populated areas of Pimple Saudagar and Rahatni. Daily peak hours see heavy traffic due to commuters traveling to and from schools, offices, residential societies, and industrial areas. The mixed flow of light and heavy vehicles further increases the risk of accidents.

During his visit, Shatrughna Kate closely examined the situation and interacted with local residents, business owners, and traffic officials to understand the challenges firsthand.

He firmly stated, “P.K. Chowk is not just a busy junction but a lifeline for thousands of daily commuters. The existing traffic setup with signals and zebra crossings is no longer sufficient. Given the rapidly growing population and increasing vehicular pressure, a grade separator — either a flyover or an underpass — is the only long-term solution to streamline traffic and ensure public safety.”

Kate added that he will soon hold discussions with the Municipal Commissioner, senior traffic officials, and the Urban Planning Department. A detailed proposal will be prepared, covering funding and technical requirements for the grade separator.

The rising traffic volume, growing number of accidents, and the strategic importance of this route — surrounded by schools, hospitals, and residential colonies — make it crucial to implement a sustainable traffic solution.

Local residents have also repeatedly submitted petitions requesting action at this junction. During the inspection, Mr. Patange from Infraking Consultants and other office bearers were present.
