Science students are familiar with the title “Concept of Physics,” written by Dr Harish Chandra Verma. The Indian President awarded the experimental physicist the Padma Shri in 2021 in recognition of his contributions to science and engineering.

On February 28, Science Day, Professor HC Verma recently gave a lecture at Garhwal Central University in Srinagar. He gave a lecture to the university’s students on the subject of light and the Raman effect.

HC Verma gave the students his “success mantra”, emphasizing that learning should come before passing. He also talked about how the best-selling book Concepts of Physics was created.

Bihar’s Darbhanga district is home to HC Verma. In his early years, he had no interest in science or math, but after being accepted to Patna Science University, he started to enjoy science. He began spending more time learning about physics. Professor Verma said that he was eligible to take the GATE exam following his graduation from Patna. He then applied for admission to IIT Kanpur to pursue an MSc. He finished his doctoral studies at the same institution after receiving his degree. He later was appointed professor there.

Dr HC Verma observed during his teaching career that pupils were struggling to comprehend the intricate vocabulary of physics. In an attempt to solve this issue, he chose to write a book. In 1992, he released the book Concept of Physics, the result of eight years of diligent work. It rose to prominence as one of the best physics books, and instructors frequently suggested it to students getting ready for JEE and other competitive exams with comparable requirements. Dr Verma also authored the book Quantum Physics and Solution of Physics in addition to this.

Giving the students the secret to success, HC Verma stated that learning is a faster path to success than studying for a test. Students who train for admission to IIT, the nation’s most esteemed engineering college, shouldn’t be disheartened if they aren’t accepted. He went on to say that the students’ aptitude is not determined by the institute. He went on to say that it’s critical to cultivate learning skills.
