August 18, 2025 – HDFC Bank has issued an advisory informing customers about a scheduled downtime affecting some of its customer service channels. The disruption, planned between August 22 and 23, 2025, is part of routine system upgrades aimed at enhancing the bank’s digital infrastructure and overall service quality.

Services Impacted

According to the bank’s official update, the following platforms will remain unavailable during the maintenance window:

  • Phone Banking IVR
  • Email Support
  • Social Media Help Channels
  • WhatsApp Chat Banking
  • SMS Banking

Despite the downtime, the dedicated toll-free helpline for reporting lost or fraudulent accounts and cards will continue to function normally.

Scheduled Downtime Details

1. Customer Care & Support Channels

  • From 11:00 PM IST on August 22, 2025 to 6:00 AM IST on August 23, 2025 (7 hours), the above-mentioned customer support services will remain non-operational.

2. UPI Transactions

  • On August 22, 2025, between 12:00 AM and 1:30 AM IST (90 minutes), UPI services linked to HDFC accounts and cards will face disruption.
  • The downtime will impact:
    • UPI transactions via HDFC Current and Savings Accounts
    • UPI services through RuPay Credit Cards
    • Payments made via HDFC MobileBanking and third-party apps (TPAPs) supported by HDFC Bank
    • Merchant transactions using HDFC-linked UPI services

What Will Still Work?

Customers can continue to access the following services without interruption:

  • Live Agent Phone Banking
  • NetBanking (offering 200+ online transactions)
  • HDFC MobileBanking App
  • PayZapp
  • MyCards

Quick Guide: How to Register for HDFC NetBanking

Online Registration (for Indian mobile numbers):

  1. Enter Customer ID
  2. Verify registered mobile number with OTP
  3. Provide debit card details
  4. Set a new IPIN (password)
  5. Log in using Customer ID and new IPIN

ATM Registration:

  1. Visit any HDFC Bank ATM
  2. Insert debit card & enter PIN
  3. Select Other Options → NetBanking Registration
  4. Confirm, and the IPIN (password) will be delivered via courier

Advisory for Customers

HDFC Bank has urged customers to complete any critical transactions ahead of the scheduled downtime. While the temporary disruption may cause inconvenience, the bank emphasized that the upgrades are necessary to strengthen system stability and security.
