Head-On Collision Of Two ST Buses On Mumbai-Goa Highway, 25 Injured
A devastating accident occurred on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway on Friday, leaving 25 passengers injured. Two State Transport (ST) buses collided head-on near Nagothne around 12 pm.
The accident involved a bus traveling from Mumbai to Rajapur and another heading to Mumbai. The crash caused significant traffic congestion in the Nagothane area, disrupting travel plans for many.
The incident coincided with the start of Ganeshotsav, a peak travel period for devotees heading to Konkan. Over 1,500 ST buses and thousands of private vehicles departed from Mumbai, leading to an unprecedented surge in traffic.
As a result, vehicles formed queues stretching up to seven to eight kilometers on both routes, bringing traffic to a standstill. This annual congestion problem on the highway has become a recurring issue, with no immediate solution in sight.
The accident and subsequent traffic jam have marred the travel plans of many Ganesh devotees, who had anticipated a smoother journey this year.
