Heartbreaking Incident in Mumbai: Cat Thrown from 9th Floor by Resident, Shocking CCTV Footage Sparks Outrage

In a deeply disturbing act that has left residents and animal lovers across the city in shock, a man was caught on security footage throwing a cat from the ninth floor of a residential building in Malad’s Malvani area. The tragic incident, which occurred in a housing society and was captured on a CCTV camera installed on the premises, has since gone viral online — triggering widespread anger and demands for justice.
The surveillance footage shows a calm and unsuspecting cat perched on a shoe rack next to a corridor window. Moments later, a man appears in the frame, carrying a bag, seemingly on his way home. He places the bag near the door believed to be his own, then — in a sudden and horrifying moment — turns back, grabs the cat without any warning, and flings it out of the window.
After the act, the man pauses to look down from the window, confirming the fall. Reports confirm that the cat landed on a metal canopy below and died instantly from the impact.
The man in the video has been identified as Kasam Sayyed, a resident and flat owner in the same building. Following the circulation of the footage, a formal complaint has been filed against him at the Malvani Police Station.
In a separate video that is also making rounds on social media, another resident can be seen recording outside Sayyed’s apartment. The person in the video, visibly angry, points to the exact window and corridor where the cat was thrown from. He also shows a copy of a letter submitted to the local police station, urging officers — as well as MLA Aslam Shaikh — to take immediate action against the man responsible.
As outrage continues to grow on social media, netizens have been demanding strict legal consequences for the inhumane act. However, as of now, there has been no official confirmation of any arrest or legal action initiated against Sayyed.
