Heavy Downpour Leads to Wall and Hoarding Collapse, Uprooted Trees Across Pune; No Injuries Reported
Pune, May 20:
A sudden spell of heavy downpour accompanied by strong winds caused widespread disruption across Pune on Tuesday, leading to multiple tree fall incidents, wall collapses, and a hoarding crash in different parts of the city. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of the incidents, according to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Fire Brigade.
Throughout the day, the fire brigade responded to 30 tree fall incidents across several localities including Yerwada, Koregaon Park, Dhanori, Tingrenagar, Erandwane, Devachi Uruli, Bavdhan, Mukundnagar, Kalepadal, Kaleborate Nagar, Hadapsar, and Fatimanagar.
Additionally, structural damage was reported in areas such as Dhankawadi, Teen Hatti Chowk, and Kondhwa, where boundary walls collapsed due to the rain’s impact.
Between 4 PM and 10 PM, another surge of 30 tree fall reports came in from regions including Warje, Church vicinity, and along Satara Road. Waterlogging issues were also noted in the ST Colony, while a large hoarding was brought down by the winds in Dhanori.
Fire brigade officials confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries. Emergency response teams were promptly deployed across affected zones, and clearing operations are underway to restore normalcy.
