Pune News: Food Delivery Employee Dies After Being Hit by Luxury Car in Mundhwa
Pune, October 11, 2024 – In a tragic incident that took place in the Mundhwa area of Pune city around 2 am today, a food delivery executive riding a two-wheeler lost his life after being struck by a luxury car Audi. The driver of the car fled the scene immediately after the accident but was later apprehended by the police.
Pune Additional Commissioner of Police, Manoj Patil, confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is currently underway.
According to the Pune City Police, the incident occurred at approximately 1:35 am. The driver of the luxury car first collided with another two-wheeler, injuring three people. Shortly after, he hit the motorcycle on which the deceased, Rauf Shaikh, was riding. The car struck Shaikh from behind, causing severe injuries. He was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
The accused, identified as 34-year-old Ayush Tayal, fled the scene after the accident. However, through CCTV footage analysis, the police were able to identify his vehicle, leading to his arrest at his residence in Hadapsar.
A case has been registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Sections 105, 281, 125(a), 132, 119, 177, and 184, at the Mundhwa Police Station.
Further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident and gather additional evidence.
