Horrific Death Caught on Camera: Man Run Over by Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Convoy Vehicle in Guntur, Crushed Under Tyre and Killed
Guntur, Andhra Pradesh – A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday in Guntur district when a 54-year-old man was fatally run over by a vehicle from the convoy of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The horrifying accident, which was caught on camera, has since gone viral and triggered widespread outrage.
The victim, Cheeli Singaiah, a resident of Vengalayapalem village and a known supporter of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), had gathered in Rentapalli village in Sattenapalli mandal to pay his respects during Reddy’s visit for a statue unveiling. As the convoy passed, Singaiah reportedly attempted to shower flowers on the former CM’s vehicle. In the process, he slipped or was struck and then run over by one of the convoy vehicles.

Graphic Footage Sparks Outrage
Disturbing video footage circulating on social media shows Singaiah falling near the vehicle, which continued to move forward without stopping. The tyre appears to crush his head and neck area, drawing strong reactions online and from political circles. Bystanders rushed to assist and alerted authorities. He was immediately taken to Guntur Government Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Officials Acknowledge Breach in Protocol
Senior police officials, including Guntur SP Satish Kumar and Guntur Range IG Sarva Shrestha Tripathi, confirmed the incident and acknowledged that the number of vehicles in the convoy exceeded the permitted limit. “Preliminary findings suggest that 30 to 35 vehicles were present in the convoy, even though only three were authorised,” IG Tripathi told Deccan Chronicle. “A detailed investigation is underway, and action will be taken based on findings.” As reported by Freepress Journal
Family Demands Justice, Probe Ordered
The victim’s family has demanded a thorough probe into the mishap, questioning how such a lapse in convoy security could occur. The police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances to determine whether negligence or intent played a role.
The Andhra Pradesh government is expected to review existing protocols regarding convoy movement and crowd management to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
